Event Summary:
To achieve our net-zero emissions targets by 2050 and meet the world’s energy needs, the development, testing, and implementation of innovative technologies, and the skilled personnel to implement these, is urgently needed. Technological advances must be accompanied by considerations of their feasibility, cost, and environmental impact and tailored to the unique challenges facing diverse communities, including northern, indigenous and remote communities. A synergistic partnership between researchers, innovators, government, and industry is essential, as each party has a critical role in getting technologies to market. This panel will explore the pathways to the development, testing, and implementation of energy solutions to achieve net zero emissions. Bringing a range of unique perspectives, the panel will discuss the opportunities and challenges in creating a continuous and integrated approach to technology development to ensure we have sufficient knowledge creation and adoption to meet our energy and climate change needs.
