With new methane regulations in development, this panel will reflect on our progress in reducing methane emissions and exceeding targets. It will emphasize the collaboration among industry, academia, and government, and how this unified approach has accelerated technology development. The panel will also highlight Canada’s pioneering efforts in methane reduction and outline the next steps, including identifying existing gaps and high-impact projects still needed.

Tim Shaw

Tim Shaw brings nearly two decades of consulting, strategic communications, and engagement experience to his role in public affairs at Tourmaline Oil where he provides strategic input and guidance on key engagement and advocacy initiatives at provincial, federal, and municipal levels. Tim’s experience includes managing critical issues and files across healthcare, technology, and pharmaceutical industries before moving from Toronto back to Calgary where he has worked in Canada’s upstream and midstream energy sectors.

Scott Volk

Scott Volk is the Director of Emissions & Innovation at Tourmaline Oil Corp., Canada’s largest natural gas producer. Mr. Volk and his team are focused on developing and implementing sustainable innovation. In addition, he sits on a number of methane emissions research and innovation committees, where he brings more than 20 years of oil and gas engineering experience with companies such as Athabasca Oil Corp. and Talisman Energy. Mr. Volk has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Systems Engineering from the University of Regina and a Master of Science in Drilling and Well Engineering from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.

Jean-Francois Gauthier

Before joining GHGSat, Jean-Francois Gauthier accumulated over 15 years of experience in the commercial space industry in various capacities at COM DEV including design and test, project management, engineering management, and sales and marketing. In October 2016, he joined GHGSat to help commercialize the products and services from their breakthrough satellites around the world and build the sales and marketing organization. He is now responsible for guiding the strategy of the company, leads corporate development activities and manages government relationships.
