The global race to tackle climate change has sparked an army of scientists, researchers and innovators around the world to push the boundaries as they work to develop new tools and technology that will help livestock producers reduce on farm GHG emissions. In this session attendees will hear from Tamara Loiselle, Founder & CEO of Synergraze Inc., Alberta, Canada; Bob Lowe, President of the Global Round Table for Sustainable Beef and former T’Sou-ke First Nation Chief Gordon Planes as they discuss the opportunity that the Synergraze Solution provides to the global livestock community to reduce GHG emissions, at scale, cost effectively. Through its newly developed and patented technology, Synergraze Inc. is redefining what it takes to become a leading global solution for ruminant GHG emissions.

Tamara Loiselle

Tamara Loiselle is the Founder and CEO of Synergraze Inc., an Alberta-based biotech company that is commercializing algae-based animal feed additives to reduce methane emissions in cattle and other ruminants. Tamara graduated from the University of Alberta, Faculty of Agriculture in Environmental Science. Tamara was awarded a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal for her environmental work with Indigenous communities and a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal in 2023 in recognition of her activism and her work with Synergraze. Tamara was also named a TIME Magazine Hero Mom of the Year.

Gordon Planes traditional name is Hya-quatcha, named after his great-grand-father from Scio-new, the salmon people. He resides in the village of Sia-osun, overlooking the northern straights of the Salish Sea. Gordon was elected Chief of the T’Sou-ke Nation for the past 16 years. He sits on many Boards including director of the Lands Advisory Board for the past 14 years. He has previously been a logger, commercial fisherman, pipe-fitter and a back country operations manager for the West Coast trail with Parks Canada. Gordon and Marcella have 6 children, 7 grand-children and 1 great grand-child. He is a Coast Salish singer, artist, carver and works towards food and energy security, language revitalization and economic development.

Bob Lowe

Bob Lowe is a long-standing beef industry member and a rancher from Alberta, Canada. On his ranch, Bob champions sustainability, most notably through his efforts to use unwanted by-products or food products as cattle feed. Bob is the Past President of the Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) and currently serves as the President of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB).
