Event Summary:
To achieve Canada’s Paris commitments and ambitious goal of net zero emissions by 2050, the widespread adoption of carbon-reducing technologies, is paramount. Pathways Alliance is at the forefront of one of the world’s largest CCS projects. While CCS technologies have been commercially available for decades, CCS is an underdeveloped path towards emission targets. The Global CCS Institute says only 30 CCS projects are currently in operation around the globe, with another 11 in construction and 153 in development.This 60-minute panel discussion will explore:
- Canada’s progress in mitigating carbon emissions through cutting-edge CCS technologies;
- Tri-lateral Government engagement;
- Collaboration to find sustainable solutions;
- Policy implications; and
- The global potential of scaling CCS initiatives
The discussion will delve into the innovation driving Alberta’s CCS, its positive impact on Indigenous communities, benefits to frontline communities through job opportunities and secondary services, and how the provincial carbon pricing system makes these projects possible.
